The forklift update provides useful information for the safe use of forklifts and self-propelled equipment.
The obligation to train the operators in charge of using the forklift is provided for by the art. 73 of Legislative Decree 81/08 and in the State-Regions Agreement relating to equipment of 22 February 2012 (Annex VI). Specifically, in point 6 of the Agreement called “Duration of validity of the qualification and update” it is noted that the operator’s qualification must be renewed within 5 years from the date of issue of the qualification certificate referred to in point 5.2, after verification of participation in refresher courses.
The course lasts 4 hours (1 hour for theoretical topics and 3 hours for practical ones).
Theoretical tests will be carried out to evaluate the knowledge acquired during the course; a participation/training/qualification certificate will be issued to those who successfully pass them.

How to safely use self-propelled trolleys:
- handling procedures
- safety signs in the workplace
- safety procedure during movement and parking of the vehicle road conditions:
- obstacles, pedestrian paths, intersections, bottlenecks, gates, gaps, slopes, etc.
- work in particular conditions, i.e. outdoors, on slippery terrain and on slopes and with poor visibility
Driving knowledge:
- regulations on circulation, load handling, storage, etc.
Knowledge of the possible health and safety risks associated with driving the forklift and in particular the related risks:
- to the work environment;
- to the man/machine relationship;
- the state of health of the driver.
Knowledge of the technical, organizational and behavioral and personal protection methods suitable for preventing risks:
- illustration, following the instructions for use of the trolley, the various components and the safety devices
- maintenance and daily and periodic checks required by law and as indicated in the instructions for use of the forklift
- guiding the trolley on a test route to highlight the correct maneuvers when empty and loaded
(correct position on the trolley, loading, transport in various situations, parking of the trolley, etc.).
